BRITISH, Anglo-Saxon. Kings of All England. Aethelred II, 978-1016. Penny (Silver, 18 mm, 0.61 g, 12 h), an imitation of a helmet type penny of Aethelred II from Lincoln, irregular mint. Helmeted, radiate and cuirassed bust of Aethelred II to left; around, illegible legend. Rev. Voided long cross with pellet in center and triple crescent ends, over square with trefoil at each point; around, illegible legend. Cf. SCBC 1152 (for prototype). Flan crack, otherwise, about extremely fine.
